How We Source and Calculate Our Numbers
Every statistic on this site is either cited to a real, named source, or clearly labeled as an illustrative estimate. Here's the standard we hold ourselves to, and the methodology behind the figures we calculate ourselves.
The Rule
We don't present illustrative numbers as if they were researched facts, and we don't hide real citations behind vague phrases like "industry experts say." If a figure on this site has a source, that source is named. If a figure is an assumption or estimate, it's labeled as one directly next to the number, not in fine print elsewhere.
Sources We Cite Throughout the Site
IBISWorld's Moving Services in the US industry report, and moveBuddha's licensed-mover count data, for company counts and market size figures used in our revenue and market-sizing content.
Angi's Moving Trends survey data for pre- and post-move stress, anxiety, and settling-in timelines referenced on our Threshold, Steady, and NewRhythm pages and in our blog.
FMCSA National Consumer Complaint Database analysis for loss/damage complaint category data, cited on our PackWise page and in our blog.
IBISWorld's average net margin data, Supermove's published net margin target for moving companies, and Starter Story's typical profit margin figures, used throughout our Sales Enablement and Fit Calculator margin math.
Sirelo, MyGoodMovers, and Omega Relocations' published 2026 international moving cost data, used in our full-bundle international move example.
Industry-wide lead conversion rate data and moving-industry business consulting commentary, used to validate the challenge categories in our Fit Calculator.
What We Calculate Ourselves
Wholesale and retail pricing figures throughout the site are our own published rates. Margin dollar amounts and percentages are simple arithmetic on those published rates — retail minus wholesale — not third-party estimates. Where we apply a margin figure to a hypothetical move (like the local-move or international-move examples on our Sales Enablement page), we say so explicitly and show the math, rather than presenting a single output number without its inputs visible.
What We Don't Do
We're a pre-launch company. We don't have live customers yet, and we won't publish fabricated testimonials, reviews, or case studies to suggest otherwise. Our Blog and Story pages are honest about what's real operating history (built inside Taylor Moving) versus what's forward-looking (the wider Wayfinder platform). When we do have real customer results to share, they'll be published here with the same sourcing standard as everything else on this page.
Ask us directly — we'd rather show our work than have you guess at it.
